Low tunnels or other shelter for winter veggies

Hi,

Last year I had some good succes using a cold frame to start mache and spinach in late summer for winter and spring harvest. I'm interestng in expanding this winter and am considering a less expensive, easier to assemble alternative such as low tunnels constructed of plastic sheeting and wire hoops. However, I'm concerned about the tunnels holding up to wind, snow, ice, etc.

Haw anyone been successful with low tunnels in NE Penna holding up under winter weather?

If so, specific suggestions for materials - type, thickness and/or source of plastic sheeting, what you used for metal support hoops, etc., would be greatly appreciated.

Also, other ieas for simple structures for winter veggies are appreciated. Thank you.
