In your case, I would find a seed marked for "shade." The site I list below may tell you which seed type to plant. You need to make sure the ground temperature is above 50 degrees F. or so with the air temperature above 60 degrees F. or so. Another item I learned from a specialist when I lived in Washington dealt with age of the seed. On the back of the seed bag, there is a sticker with a bunch of numbers and seed types. Check where it says "test date." That gives you an idea of the age of the seed in the bag. My rule is nothing with a test date earlier than 6 months of the date that I purchase the seed. Last week I found fescue seed with a test date of "08/05." I hit the jackpot with that bag--fresh seed.
