Hello, I am new to the forum and I have some questions about my recently purchased windmill palm. I thought I already posted, but after searching, could not find my post so it must not have submitted. Anyway, I live outside of Wichita, Kansas, right on the line between zone 6/7. I purchased a 4 foot tall windmill palm two days ago. It is currently potted in my house. I was wondering when I should plant the palm. I was thinking of waiting til mid April, but I'm not sure when the correct time would be. Kansas is also notorious for clay, and my yard is no exception. How should I plant this palm in order for it to drain well? How often should I water it in our hot, dry summers? And come next winter, how should I protect this palm, as our winters often come with cold spells with temperatures dropping to the single digits and remaining there for days.
