SO I've been at this for over and hour and can't seem to to find an answer to what I though was a really basic question... How deep to repot a ponytail palm.

It's about 6 inches tall and apparently the pot fell over. The person gave it to me with the plant sitting bare root on top of the soil in an empty 6" pot.

When I plant it, how far up the base should the new soil come? 1/2 inch? inch?

Help would be greatly appreciated. I've watered it as it, but want to plant it right.
