Where abouts on Lake Erie? Monroe? I hope they didn't just leave it outside.

Nice palm! I've seen them able to get bigger in pots that size so hopefully they can keep it around for at least a few more years!

Andy- It's at Ford Yacht Club on Grosse Ile. They don't leave it outside. I've been going to this event for at least the past 6 or so years, and it's been there the whole time, usually upstairs on a balcony. I've never been there in the winter to see how or where in the club they overwinter their palms, but the south facing wall of the building is all window. They have a great collection there, and I'm sure their sagos are worth some money. They're so big and old that they're producing pups.

Alex- I hope they can keep it around for a while longer, would be really impressive to see it in a few more years.

Very nice palm, but really needs repotting. But then again I have seen pindo palms 12' tall for sale at Myrtle Beach in smaller pots. Some palms just dont mind being root bound.

I agree, could definitely use a repotting if someone can find a new pot large enough. Not too far from this yacht club, there's a huge house right on the water, actually on it's own peninsula that puts out large queen palms surrounding their outdoor pool every summer. The pool is waterfront, so you can only see the palms via boat. I was hoping for the last 2 falls that I would see those palms sitting out by the trash so I could grab one, but that's just my own greed. It looks like they have an indoor pool room that they probably overwinter them in. They must pot-plant in the warmer months.

I would love to see the club plant some larger trachys right at the water's edge and see how they do unprotected. Even if they just received some winter burn, they should be able to recover. This club's location on the southern tip of the island is usually a couple degrees warmer for low temps than my location on the island. It would be interesting...
