Can I save my pindo palm?

This pindo palm I grew from seed and while many other pindo palms I planted outside died this one has been a survivor. It survived two winter in the ground. In the summer it has to compete for light and nutrients with cannas and other tropical so the leaves are very stretched. This pindo is 4 years old.
I protected it with christmas lights but this year I used burlap and plastic instead of a plastic bucket. I under estimated how hot it got inside the protection and combined with frozen ground the palm is crispy. The spear did not pull.

I really want to save this palm since it has done so well for me. I'm thinking about building a cold frame from wood and plexiglass to give it a head start before the summer. Any thoughts on this?
