For those of you living in Texas, I am working on a book on landscaping with palms in Texas, and I need some help with some palm photos. I have photos of some of the palms for my book, but I need you to help me with others. I may be traveling to the Rio Grande Valley next week, so if you could tell me where I could find the following palms to photograph myself or if you have any photos of these growing in Texas, I would appreciate it. They have to be healthy and recognizable and growing outdoors in Texas. If you submit any photos to me, pleae include the city where it is growing, and please include the variety if it is a species with more than one variety:

Palmate Palms:
Cabbage Palm (Sabal palmetto)
Blue Hesper Palm (Brahea armata)
Florida Silver Palm (Coccothrinax argentata)
Old Man Palm (Coccothrinax crinita)
Windmill Palm (Trachycarpus fortunei)
Needle Palm (Rhapidophyllum hystrix)

Pinnate Palms:
Foxtail Palm (Wodyetia bifurcata)
Bottle Palm (Hyophorbe lagenicaulis)
Fishtail Palm (Caryota mitis or other variety)
Triangle Palm (Dypsis decaryi)
Parlor Palm (Chamaedorea elegans)
Hardy Bamboo Palm (Chamaedorea microspadix)
Radicalis Palm (Chamaedorea radicalis)
Bamboo Palm (Chamaedorea seifrizii)
Kentia Palm (Howea forsteriana)
Spindle Palm (Hyophorbe verschaffeltii)
Manila Palm (Adonidia merrillii)
King Palm (Archontophoenix alexandrae)
Picabeen Palm (Archontophoenix cunninghamiana)
Areca Palm (Dypsis lutescens)
Senegal Date Palm (Phoenix reclinata)
Majesty Palm (Ravenea rivularis)
Alexander Palm (Ptychosperma elegans)
Coconut Palm (Cocos nucifera) any varieties, but especially
the Green, Golden, and Yellow Malayan Dwarfs

You can email me at: mr.coconutpalm@yahoo.com

Thanks,
John

I'm not from Texas, but am interested in finding out which palms you discover growing in northern Texas. Keep us updated.
