Sabals growing in clump

Several years ago I threw some S.palmetto seeds in the ground in a few places, so now a have clumps of palms (2 or 3) in a few places. I'm just curious if it's okay to let them keep growing like this or if I should cut them back to a single palm?

I know with deciduous trees this is generally a bad idea since it can cause included bark and splitting, but palm trunks are a bit different.
