Pindo's don't really like copper fungicide. Best thing to do is pour some peroxide down the center where the spears pulled. Cover the palm during rain events and don't let it get wet. Give it some time and see what happens.

If you're in zone 8 and you're already having temps in the 70s and 80s, it's time to uncover your palms, especially hardy types like pindos and sabals. Those types of temps are perfect growing temps. And yes, the drugstore type of peroxide in the brown bottle is what you use. Just pour it right into the crown where the new leaves come up out of the trunk. I usually pour until I see a puddle of it form inside there. Too much, and it will leak down the trunk into the root zone.

Thanks islandbreeze! No I am more in the most southern tip of zone 7. I added lights and a tarp fort over it, because it has been raining all week. Even on Monday we got snow! IN THE SPRING! doesn't usually happen, so I am ready for warmer wether, so I can unwrap and take eveything out! :) I also read through the other thread on pindo spear pull to get some more insight.

Mine have been uncovered for 2 weeks now in northern utah if its not freezing at night they should definatly be uncovered. You can cook them if its that hot outside.

How are the temps by you guys? It has still gotten to 35F some nights. I was under the impression that was too cold for pindos.

It has been down to 27 on the coldest night since i uncovered them. Pindos should show no damage until mid teens. My canary has seen 22 many times with no damage and pindos are considerably hardier.

Okay, thanks for the tips! I was planning on unwrapping this weekend anyway, because the lows for next week are all 50F and above!!!!! Yeahhhh Spring!!!
