Will my Majesty Palm be ok?

I finally broke down a week ago and purchased one of those Majesty Palms at Costco. I transplanted it into a much bigger pot. It looks beautiful. I'm worried though because our temperature is going to drop tomorrow night, for the next 3 or 4 nights the temps will be 37-45 degrees. Not freezing though. Will it be ok?

I would be more concerned with your decision to transplant in a "much bigger pot". Most palms actually prefer being slightly pot bound and excessive large pots can cause problems (especially outside where you cannot control precipitation). I hope you used a really well-training soil! PS. Today, I put out my Queen palms, Washingtonia, Canary Island Date, and Majesty. I will be watching the forecast for the the Majesty as my night temps too are expected to drop into the mid/upper 30's (will probably move to protect the Majesty--not the others).

Thanks for your response and some education on Majesty Palms. I can say I have always had great luck even when I transplant in a larger pot. The palm thrives. I was very concerned the past 3 days because of our low temperatures. We had freeze warnings. The palm is fine. Thank goodness. I think we are finally over our cold spell. So glad Spring is here.

I have never had luck with Majesty Palms. In fact I don't know anyone that ever has growing them indoors. Wow. It is great to see someone is!!!:-) I heard they are the worst to grow indoors, that is why they are so cheap at these stores. My best friend just bought 3 of them for 5 dollars each at Home Depot. He loves them. He keeps calling me for advice on how to make them grow nice..I have no clue on this one. Last year, he bought 4,, turned a yellow all over, and the leaves were stunted. They all but almost died. When he stuck them in the sun, weather indoors or out, they burnt. Then when he took them out of the sun, they hardly grew at all, and almost died. Funny though, when he put them outside for the summer last year, looking awful, after only growing them indoors for 3 months, they looked so good after a month under his canopy gazzebo. After a couple months of being indoors again, at the end of summer, they looked like garbage. What's the key to growing these things, since they seem to only do good in tropical outdoor climates?!!

I have had good luck growing them in a 1/2 whiskey barrel in a back corner of my yard that gets about 4 hours of morning sun. kind of dappled sunlight in the afternoon. They thrive. Plus lots of water. I grow them with Impatiens in the same 1/2 whiskey barrel so everyone loves the water. It is a nice combo. I think they'll do OK in full sun but you have to aclimate them slowly to full sun. good luck. They are difficult to grow inside, it can be done, but they require lots of work. I use mine as annuals and throw them away in Nov.

I have never attempted growing the palm indoors. We have a beautiful deck and the palm is outside. One reason I don't like making a large investment on buying one is when the weather gets cold the palm dies. I don't have the space to bring it inside.
