Beautiful washy. The pot is way to small for that big boy. The roots need to spread out not bunch up. I would start with that.

Most of the time palms don't mind to be a little tight in their containers but I'd agree that part of the problem is the pot and probably the soil. If and when you re pot make sure the soil is well draining.

When you bought it was it in full sun? It's quite possible that it's shocked by all the full sun it's getting. Especially if it's been growing it's whole life not in full sun.

Walmart on Academy and Wyoming. They had a bunch of Windmill palms as well, same size and only $50!! Osuna Nursery sells the same size Palms for $300-$500.

I'm guessing it was probably grown in a lot of shade and is not used to all the sun. I'd repot it and give it some good fertliizer (and keep it well watered when it's warm out). Washys are good at recovering from stress (much better than many other palms are). It should be good after a nice growing season. 50 dollars is an incredible price for a palm that size! It's a rarity to get deals like that on palms around here and definitely never on washingtonias!

I had the same thing happen, and as the other posters have said, mine was sun shocked. I watered it everyday for the first week, then every other day for the next two. Then twice a week since. It recovered.

Yes, probably should repot it. I literally have to repot mine once a MONTH because it's growing extremely fast. Mine is only a year old in August! Get yours out of there and into a bigger pot.
