Are you keeping it outside?

You know they love heat and sun...(-:

Very healthy seedling! I would definitely adapt it to outside growing to harden off a bit. Don't give it full sun right away because it's indoor grown fronds will easily burn. Looks like yours will probably start making split leaves by the end of the season. They won't be fully split till next summer probably, but I hear that they start growing even faster once they split their fronds!

Thank you for the compliments! I have an experiment going though. This one is one of 2 that germinated at the same time. One of the two is outside and it is growing a lot slower than this one that I have inside. I think it's best to keep this one inside because it's a lot hotter in here. It's right next to a window. We haven't had a very hot summer in the Capital Region of NY because of a ton of rain and a whole lot more cloudy days. But then again, I can try to put it outside if you believe it will grow faster. You're the experts! :-)

I have one that's in the stage of growth. Those strap leaves will split more and as each new ones emerge. It likely will take a bit longer to get fully formed fronds than that Christmas time frame you have in mind. But agree with Alex, ease that into the sun. They like heat and direct sun and grow faster. You're not doing it any favors by keeping it indoors.
