Weed control/fertilizer for palms in containers

Hello. I sprouted some Sabal Palmetto seeds, and Butia Capitia (Pindo) two and a half years ago. I have about 20 sabal palmettos and 10 pindo palms, in 30 3 gallon nursery containers. I am continuing to have an issue with crab grass and other weeds growing in the containers. Can anyone recommend a product for control? I am also looking for good fertilizer. So far I have not fertilized them this year. When I first put them in the containers i put a little osmocote in them, and last summer i just used some miracle grow liquid plant food. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.

Fertilzing is wise and there are palm fertilizers in southern areas you can buy. For northern growers buying a time released fertilizer used for flowering plants contains the various elements needed.

I would not use a weed and feed product because they have a tendency to kill the wrong plants and could even harm your palms or stunt them. Anything that kills plants, including weeds has anti-growth toxins. DO NOT USE.
