Los Angeles Arboretum visit

Been by this nice garden a few times in the last few months, and thought maybe you would like to see a few of the palms there.

Here is a Butia eriospathe since this has been subject of a rather heated discussion lately.. looks just like C odorata except has a fuzzy flower spathe

Butia paraguayense

Weird droopy leaf form of Butia

Tall Kings, Trithrina campestris and others

Common palms

Dont see an arching Canary Island Date Palm every day

Great pics.I love the Butia palms.I wish those CIDP palms and Meds.palms were common to here.I have a 15 gallon P.Sylvester.I'm going to plant it next spring,it's getting root bound.I know I will have to protect it in winter,but I love the look of Phoenix palms also.I will have to try to find out what kind of butia palm that one is with droopy looking leaves.I just dont have that much time anymore.I writting this from work,I get so boared programming all day.I check this forum about every 2 hours,I cant help it,palms are my favorite plants.

Thanks for sharing the pics. The Left coast has nice palms:) Are you sure pic 3 is a Butia(Weird droopy leaf form of Butia). Looked like some sort of date palm I thought.

The curving CIDP might have been put in for "Fantasy Island" in lue of coconuts. Its a wonder no landscaper does that with King palms-THAT would look very tropical.
