What do you mean cut you some slack?!?! LOL! It's beautiful! You did a great job! Now all you need is more. LOL! I'm kidding. I myself have a problem of wanting the "jungle" effect. You know, buying too much and cramming it all together to make it look like the edge of a tropical jungle paradise. Those croton will fill in really nicely. I would love to have some of those in the ground permanently but here in PA that's almost totally out of the question. Your home is beautiful and the landscaping looks great! You're a pro.

thanks jay.I also had some questions pertaining to fertilizing the palms and other plants. Will the palm fert i bought be sufficient for the crotons and cordylines as well? Also, how long should i wait before i feed them for the first time; they've been in the ground now for three weeks and i don't wanna do it to soon. Lastly, the crotons have been very demanding of water; i'll water once in the morning, and when i come home for work around 3-4, some of them look like they're weeping crotons, so i'll water again, and thirty minutes later, they look awesome. I was told that crotons were pretty drought tolerant. Did i not buy the correct type? Please enlighten me. thanks again for all the input

Very pretty! I can promise, us palm growers in colder zones are big time jealous! I can see some type of butia further out in the yard or maybe a bed to the side...

Yeah, it looks really nice. I would love to see a royal palm behind the pygmy. I thing the crotons are a really good idea and they will make a really thick ground cover in about 5 years. Also additional mulch should help your watering problems, and also help prevent any winter damage marginally hardy plants (like crotons) will get.

Good luck

thanks again for all the comments. I've been looking around at the local nursery's at some bottle palms; just not sure where i could fit one in, or if they're even cold hardy enough for me to put in the ground. Thanks again

Lovely yard, lovely home, congratulations.

That's a nice transformation. I would eventually round out that whole area to the left of the sidewalk, and plant some understory plants in front of the palms. Maybe clumps of crinums and perhaps Carribean agave (sharp points though!), philodendron selloam, jatropha shrubs, etc.

Perfectly done! You have a talent in landscaping. If you want to learn more you can read magazines and or you can visit your friends or neighbors landscape to get more fresh ideas.

hey Deuce, about the crotons yes you did get the right plant. It will just take a while for them to get rooted into the soil and actually establish a root structure system where they can take in water and nutrients. And although the crotons can take the sun they will appreciate a little shade that those palm will offer in a few years. And yes it really looks nice And I hope you post photos of the christmas trees lit up later on .
