I was planning a trip to vegas when i came across some photos of a phoenix palm that intrigued me. I could not help but notice that the Phoenix canariensis at the cosmopolitian las vegas pool look very distinct and believe that they must be a special variety or a hybrid of some sort. First the leaves seem to be shorter, thicker and point upright more readily than what you normally see with a canariensis imo, and secondly, the trunks seem skinnier to me than what you typically see with canariensis of those size. Anyone have a clue what variety these are?
