This frond has been flying out with day after day in the 90s and all of the mild nights only dropping into the 70s at. This palm is getting really big. Not so much tall but the spread on the older fronds is about 7 feet accross.

Wow! 7ft! Cant wait until mine gets that big, but that will be a while lol. My tall might come out of it but the spear isnt opening right so who knows. Do you ever fertilize the soil?

US marine-
I fertilize a a few times during the summer. Typically with carl pool palm food and occasionally with just general plant food. I have thought about buying coconuts from the store and breaking them up and composting over the summer. i would think that would be the best way to feed a coconut.

RE: Tall coconut overhead shot`

That's probably a difficult way to fertilise a coconut. In their environment they get a lot of seaspray so would benefit from some salt. Although sea salt isn't just NaCl, it has just about every mineral on the planet (in some form or other) in it. Ideally if you had access to some sea water, that would help. They're not a mangrove so it's also best not to over do it by giving it nothing but sea water.

Good compost from coconuts wouldn't likely be any better than any other good compost. And you have to remember that coconuts have a lot of fat/oil in them. Takes a long time to break down. If not fully broken down you risk it coating the roots of the plant and 'suffocating' it.
