Phoenix dactylifera

User

I have a few different species of Phoenix palms--roebellini, canariensis (from seed), reclinata and senegal. These have not been difficult to maintain, and if anything, they grow too big, too fast, too soon. I would like to grow the true date (Phoenix dactylifera) but have had them fail a couple of times already. I live in a humid zone 7. Normally, the weather can be quite rainy in the growing season but last few summers have been quite dry. Anyone having success with the True Date in a humid climate as I would like to try one again. Are the other date palms that I mentioned (Senegal, reclinata, canariensis and roebellini) just much more tolerant of humidity and less a desert palm--as is the True Date?? Thanks in advance.
