Can you trust nursery specialists?

While talking to several nursery specialists I would like to share some of them with you all. These are words writen by nursery specialists or staff:

Huge palm tree nursery that has a seemingly advanced website, staff writes after I asked them whether they have any Phoenix theophrastii for sale:

1. "I am not sure what Ph. theophrastii is but from the pictures google it seems to be dactylifera or canary..."

Another huge nursery with an advanced website and operation writes after I noted that they list Syagrus romanzoffiana (Queen palm) as a Zone 8A (hardiness down to 10F) plant:

2. "Most all palm trees need a certain amount of time of being established. Also if the Queen Palm was field grown it would need a little more time to establish its root system to endure your winters. It is recommended to do some winter protection especially for a new planting done in areas like yours just in case weather may drop lower than normal. The Queen Palm has been known to handle a night or two of temperatures roughly 19-20 degrees but any longer and the palm will suffer and most likely die."

Their website lists Queen Palm as a Zone 8A (survives down to 10F) plant. Now I noticed they changed the descriotion to: "Zone 8b (15 to 20 F)" but still, 15F is not 19F and mine died at above 17F.

Many others, some written, some spoken, most (nursery owners) can't tell a difference between Washingtonia filifera and Washingtonia robusta just to name a few.
