I also had an interview in Charlotte, so I drove around for awhile, mostly around Lake Norman/Mooresville. Overall, Charlotte seemed much palmier than Raleigh. I saw many trachies and palmettos in public plantings. I wasn't there long, and was driving by most of the palms in front of businesses, but here are a few.

These were the first I saw in a neighborhood near Lake Norman. I was surprised at how healthy they were. I didn't think palmettos would do very well in Charlotte, especially 20 miles north of Charlotte, but I saw quite a few there.

I saw a handful of car dealerships that had palmettos in front.
