Looks like a Syagrus romanzoffiana to me. I have one approx the same size. They are very common and easy to germinate. I hear that they are almost an invasive species in some subtropical areas.

I would guess Syagrus romanzoffiana as well. At first look it did resemble a date palm a little but I think it is a Syagrus romanzoffiana or queen palm as we call them in Florida.

Almost invasive? That would explain how it ended up growing in my front yard. I certainly didn't plant it.
