I'm thinking its just from being trans-planted. Happend to my original coco a few years back. After a little bit they will regain their size and grow bigger again.

Probably transplant. Do you have it in the same location? If it is in a sunnier location, that could explain the shorter fronds. Often if a palm is in more shade it will have longer fronds "reaching for the sun."

I had it in the same location as last summer until this past Saturday when I moved. I suspect it is the transplant. It actually is now getting more sun than ever before. It's getting sun about 60-90 minutes earlier in the morning then at the old house and maybe even a little more in the evening as well.

Yeah that's my point. Less sun causes longer fronds. i live in the woods. Check out the needle i planted last fall. It is stretching for sunlight. More sun may cause more overall growth when you include the trunk, but it will be compact growth.

Here is another example. Notice on this jelly the bottom fronds are low. These are the older fronts from when i planted it and it was a compact plant. The newer fronds stretch for sunlight leaving a gap between the older and newer fronds.

When did the fronds start to get shorter, and by how much shorter? If it is only the newest frond, whatever happend must have started while the frond was young.

Well i think i figured it out, the first new summer frond of the coconut was shorter and I believe due to the transplant. Friday was the 1st day that I was home all day and while I thought it was getting full sun all day the sun actually gets blocked from about 2-3:30 by the A frame of the house.the newest frond is the only part that gets full sun all day so it really is stretching out now and the new spear is following it. It definately is going to grow taller in this location.
