No, sounds like rot. Kept too wet.

Many palm seeds are not viable very long. It's much better to plant them soon after collecting them. And it's not a good idea to store them in plastic bags--common mistake. A paper bag or envelope works better.

A generally accepted test for viability of seeds is putting them in water. They should sink of they are fresh and viable. Ones that have dried out will usually float.

Sounds like those pindo seeds didn't make it. Better luck next time collecting. I'm sure Laura can send you some from this year's harvest!

Vince is correct.. i can send you some seeds as well as some little babies sabals that are poking up right now...

I do have some Sabal seed pods that i left on one tree for Vince...but i bet he would share some of them with you!!! : ) SInce i will have soooooooooooo many!!! LOL!!!

Get rid of the soft seeds. The Pindo seeds seem to take a little longer to germinate than the Sabals..,thats just my observation....
