I have seen these palms tried in AL and other southern states. When planted outside in a hot area the palm can grow from stage 1 to stage 2 in one year. From stage 2 to 3 it will take another year. Generally,3-4 years in a 30" pot would be work fine. The palm can split the pot when it wants more room and can communicate that way..lol.

3-4 years is way too short. So out goes Carnary date palms. are there anything that will stay looking like this one, single trunk and with a canopy dia of say 4-5':
