Hi,
I noticed a palm trunk on the left side of the photo. That being the case, its not unusual for a cycad to thrive. I noticed it growing among rock and its in a microclimate. I don't know the name, but it looks uncommon with thinner fronds. This is Okland CA right.

Its still a surprise to me what tropicali is grown here. I wouldnt have thought a cycad like that would look so good..they had a larger second plant. Somehow,I didnt take a pic.

How embarrassing-lol,I have had one for years just struggling in part shade-Doesnt look anywheres as robust. Thanks very much for that and your other ID,Dr.Lzrd.
Any kind of shade and cycads don't mix up north here.

cycads need full sun.

not in my climate (So Cal).. most Ceratozamias do far better in shade, and many do great in full shade. Most Encephalartos and Dioons need full sun, but can't say the same about any of the other genera, in general.
