I have to say, as common as livistonias are, they seem to be pretty rare around here as single specimen plants. I have found some beautifully large clumps of them (my large ones with 1 foot tall, fat trunks was only 20 dollars).
If it really means a lot for you to have a single plant, you can always saw the other plants off of it and let it grow by itself. Personally though, I think these palms look their best in groups in the shade. This is one palm that really looks nice when young or old.

Yes, L. chinensis seems mostly available as a group planting but I most say, locally, they are quite inexpensive. However, I have seen Livisona saribus (Taraw Palm) being sold here, and this one IS sold as a individual planting. I tried the saribus once--could not handle its wickedly barbed leaf petioles though--and I have some pretty prickly palms.
