Pygmy date palm doing poorly

cathydor

I have had a pygmy date palm as an indoor plant for several years. Lately it has taken a turn for the worse. Early in the summer I replaced the top two inches of soil and added time release fertilizer. Since then it has not been doing well. The outside fronds are drying up but it has new growth in the center. I have it at a west window. Will moving it to the south help?
