it is no a palm, it is a yucca cane. They like bright light and not too much water, maybe once a week depending on how fast the soil drys.

Not a palm but they are a related kin. You've got a Yucca elephantipes. Good house plants--easier than many true palms.

I also agree, its not actually a palm tree, its a yucca. They look very different from each other, but they are both considered tropical (although some yuccas are cold tolerant, the one you have is not). They make fantastic indoor plants. Just keep it by a sunny spot and water it every once in a while.
Yucca guatemalensis can handle lots of sun and lots of shade, lots of drought, and a good amount of water as well. Its a very tolerant yucca, but unlike some other yuccas, this one cannot handle cold and usually dies around 25F.
They are also very easy to start from cuttings. I have taken cuttings from this type of yucca, cut them in the fall, stored them in my cool garage over the winter, and rooted them the following spring with no problems!
