If any of you guys remember, this is the palm that I was contemplating not protecting last winter, but I did chicken out(as advised by someone who noticed the electrical outlet right next to it) and gave it some lights, burlap and a plastic bag as protection. The roots got no protection at all. No mulch, just the lava rocks. Anyway, this is how it looks a year later, grew quite a bit.
The real reason for this posting, though, is that I don't think this is a typical Trachycarpus Fortunei, I think it's either a Nainital or something else. Check out how deeply divided the leaves are, and how the leaflets are almost arranged around the petiole 300 degrees. Most of my other trachys are not divided this deeply, and have more surface area on the leaf. What are everybody's thoughts?
