Nice Agave-
You would have to quit your job just to keep those dang babies off it.
Beautiful pics-I'm glad we don't have all that stuff here...are I would probably think Maples are cool (-:

Thanks Jim, I just leave the agave alone, i value my hands & wrists because of the daggers & needles! lol

Too awesome for words!

Thanks for sharing.

Question about the palms, though. I notice a lot of brown fronds on them. Is that due to the climate being a little harsh in the winter, the bad drought you had the past year or so, the heat this summer? Or, is it just that they haven't been cleaned up to remove it like palms often are in commercial landscapes?

Denninmi, they do need clean'in up for sure but also some winters especially the washingtonias take on cold damage that's noticable. Thanks, glad you enjoyed the pics.

Dixieboy,

It looks like some of those Live Oaks need a good dusting off.

What I love best is the combination of conifers (assume they're bald cypress) and palms. Eastern zones 7 and 8 are my favorites for gardening!--Even if I can't grow those coconuts.

Dixieboy,
Beautiful pictures....I especially love the live oaks...they really bring back great memories growing up here in VB...I could climb those trees for hours...but you really have to watch out for those chiggers!!! Ouch!!

My agave is about the same size as yours but I have mine in a pot on my deck...I'm thinking about planting it in the ground...but I'm afraid of losing it over the winter...I've had it so long I don't want to part with it!!! I just cut off the end points and carefully bring it in!!!

Your Pindo is beautiful...I made some "Pindo Jelly" from mine this fall...thanks to Bryan in LYH..for his recipe...it turned out pretty well...actually quite tasty!!! If you want the recipe just give me a shout!!!
Your yard is beautiful...thanks for the pictures!!!

Njoasis, no coconuts here & as a matter of fact no bald cypress, at least in these set of pics but glad you enjoyed the photos from here in eastern Carolina! Thanks

Thanks Laura for the compliments, yes, don't know what i would do w/out live oaks in the yard.

The agave has been right there since it was a seedling but i planted it in building sand as so to have good drainage.

The butia i also planted when it was a small container size.
