Best Protection Method For Palm Trees zone 6

hello I was wondering if anybody had some insight on how I should protect my palm trees. Last winterIi wrapped mine up with a layer of christmas light, then quilt batting, more lights then a big wood and plastic enclosure with a small space heater set to keep it just above freezing, just in case! The windmill palm came through the winter in perfect condition and this method worked swimmingly! Now I have much larger and more types of palms that need protecting! I have a 15' windmill palm, a 5' pindo palm, a 4' mexican fan palm, and a 3' mediterranean fan palm. I was wondering if I wrap them up and put a solid foam box over top with lights inside if that would be wise? The lack of sunlight concerns me. Or would it be best to use my other method but just on a much larger scale? Your thoughts please?

if your windmill is 15' I don't think I would do much to it unless your more in a zone 5 than a 6 out of the lot Id be more concerned with the pindo and the mexican fan. a clear plastic box with lights should do fine..sometimes over protection can lead to problems

I noticed that lack of light isn't a huge problem for cold tolerant palms as long as they are not exposed to very warm temperatures inside their protection. My palms stayed covered with plastic garbage bins and the only light they get is from the christmas lights which I don't turn on unless it's below around 22F.
I agree with mike that over protection is sometimes a big problem. It's pretty easy to overheat things in their protection even during the winter.
