Nice pics again, I enjoyed them. Palms seem to do very well in coastal north carolina. Good luck, hope Ida's remenants didnt cause too much trouble!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the pics. About 7" of rain, stiff NNE winds & higher than normal tides but no real problems.

I really enjoy photos, I'm sure everyone appreciates them! I have always been intrigued by coastal North Carolina, was so beautiful when I visited in 2006 while I lived in Virginia Beach.

Dixieboy, do you ever see any Phoenix palms in your area? They're getting common down here closer to the beach, but where I'm at (50 miles inland - 8a/8b border) I have only spotted two. I'm going to try to get some pics of them.

Phoenix in NC are found strickly on the immediate coast & mostly from hatteras southward, here on the inner coast they don't stand much of a chance. The ones that i do see are cidp's & wondering if the true dates wouldn't do real good in the sandy areas near the coast.

| This is the smaller Phoenix palm I spotted. It's growing at the very tip of the FL panhandle about a mile from the AL state line (notice it's growing amongst some pecan trees). I don't know how long it has been there but I will keep an eye on it throughout the winter. The other one is in the town of Brewton, AL and it's a good bit taller than this one. Looks like it has been there awhile too. Sorry for the crappy pics but I was driving ;)

The only trouble with that situation is that they tend to darwf the smaller dwellings & smaller yards also. Thanks
