New Kentia tree (around 4 feet tall)

I just love the shape of my new Kentia plant/tree. It's around 4 feet tall and the shape of the leaves are really beautiful. The only thing is that it has an overall color of lime or yellowish-green and some tiny black dots that can barely be seen. They look like sun burn. My question is: does anyone know if this plant will go back to being a dark bright green or is it going to stay this yellowish-green color? It is now in front of a north facing window where no direct sunlight hits it. Any comments appreciated.

Usually the more shade a plant gets the darker green it is. Some plant food high in nitrogen mught green it up too, but remember the old leaves will not get any darker, but the future leaves still can. Good luck!

My Kentia is a very slow grower. Never has more than five fronds, at any one time. The older fronds start to yellow but the spears are a good shade of green, in the ground, in direct sun. LB

Some "understory" plants require shade to be more green and not burn and most others require full sun to be dark green. Kenya is a hot sunny place.

Kentia palms (Howea) are from the South Pacific island of Howea where the climate is actually cool to warm (never extreme on either end of the temperature scale). It also starts out small as an understory palm shaded from the strongest sun. This is one of a tiny handful of palms that I protect from strong sun outside (along with Chamaedorea and Raphis). Morning sun is fine, as is dappled midday sun (like you'd find under some tree species.--Yes, they are slow (but reliable) growers. Good luck!

Believe me, a lot of just comes from trial and ERROR.--I've managed to sunburn a good many palms in my life already!
