Sign of scale on my last healthy mexican fan palm. What do I do?

I am seeing a persistent "shiny" residue on my only healthy mexican fan palm and I have reason to believe (although I haven't seen it yet) it's evidence of that sickening bug, scale. Is there a way for me to stop this from going any further? I feel like I caught it early enough that there's something I can do to prevent it permanently. Any advice? Thanks.

Spray spray spray. I use Orthene WP, works great, but stinks something aweful.

How big is the Washy?

If its small,be careful about anything you spray into the spear area as it can fester and going into winter is a bad time for that.

It may be best to leave it,the fluctuating temps in the protection and constant moisture may wear the bugs out,if there are any.
