I was going to Austell,GA.(about 15 miles from me) to go shopping with my wife.I thought I was in for a boaring day of watching her try on cloths, asking me how does this look.On the way to the store I saw a man with a van and a box trailer in a parking lot, where there once was a gas ststion or something.I saw palms from a distance,I quickly turned around and pulled up to notice all kinds of palms and agaves. He had 2 great looking 7 gallon pindos in the back of the trailer,I figured he would wont 80 dollare a piece for them so I asked him how much they were.To my surprise he said 40 dollars a piece, thats alot cheeper than any Ive found anywhere.I said how much did he want If I bought both of them,He said 75dollars,I said 70 sounds better. He said I was killing him then he said are you going to load them,I said yea!!!He said ok,I couldent believe what a steal I was getting,2 over grown 7 gallon pindos for 70 dollars. Then I seen 2 three gallon pindos and he said they was 9 dollars each,I said how about 16 dollars for both of them.He said you got 2 seven gallons for hardley nothing.I pretended like I wasent interested and started to my truck and he said ok 16 dollars for the two of them,I got them also, after all they call me the butiaman.I got his business card and he said he would be back next saturday. So will I!!!!!

The 7 gallon trees are about 6 feet tall and 8 feet wide.Thats including the fat trunks, witch are about 3 feet tall. The 3 gallon trees are about 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide, including fat trunks (for three gallon size),witch are about 8 inches tall. They all are twice the size of the same plants at HD and L.I told him to bring some Sabals next weekend. He said he would bring various sizes of all the palms he has. They even look more healthy than HD and L palms.

You can bring up the pics on your phone, and there should be some options available. I usually send them to my email address, and then I can work with them from there (upload to Photobucket and put the html stuff in the message). Good luck. I'm glad you found some great deals!

I had a situation like this a couple of weeks ago, I was driving near Pensacola and saw a man selling palms on the side of the road with a "50% off all palms" sign. I bought a few healthy 3 gallon Windmills for $7 each. This wasn't the first time I have seen these roadside palm stands, I think some of these people come from central or south Florida and try to clear out their stock before they go back home.

I was thinking the same thing so I asked him where did he get his palms. He came up here from Miami to Stockbridge,GA.He started up a secound nusery there. He said that he had family here and they told him that the new craze here was cold hardy palms. He has one nursery in miami, one in Stockbridge,GA. and is going to start up one in Austell,GA.My guess is he can buy large numbers of palms in Miami cheap.Thats how he can sell them so cheap.

I was able to get another good deal today! I drove down to Gulf Shores this morning and noticed one of the nurseries down there was having a sale, I got a 7gal Phoenix Canariensis for $22. This thing is about 4ft tall and spreads out about 5ft, I had to tie up the fronds to be able to fit it in my minivan. I went to another place afterwards and they had theirs (same size) marked at $79.

Wow!!!Great find on the $22 Phoenix Canariensis.Yea I see some palm prices on the web on the same palm, same size and prices may vary 40 or 50 dollars.I spoke to a owner of a big palm nursery in Atlanta, his price on a certain palm was $30 more than HD.I told him they had it $30 cheaper than him.He finally told me he could buy them for the same price from HD that he had to pay for them from a grower, plus there was a delivery charge. He said he just took a truck and a trailer and bought them from his local HD.Then he potted them up and sells them for $30 more. That shows me that some nurserys are charging way to much on palms.I talked to the manager at HD and he told me he could order me just about anything I wanted. He is a friend of mine and he said why HD could sell things so cheap is that they spend millions of dollars on plants and distribute them to each store. When you buy in bulk you can buy them cheaper so you can sell them cheaper, makes since to me.Ive been checking out prices on Canary palms and some nurserys want $80 for a 7 gallon, plus shipping and handeling.Yea thats a steal for a 7gallon Canary palm.Good going!!!

Some of these palms fetch a high price and its great to get a deep discount. That's why I was glad to buy my needle palm in NC as opposed to NY. The size I bought was 18" with 2 trunks and many pups. By mail it would cost $200. I recall I paid about $33. Tropical Zone 7 explains transferring pictures pretty well into the site. And try to do it with a friend who knows computers as well.
