Hello I recently checked some new medjools I have planted. I was surprised to see several dots all over the older leaves. I did some research and thought I had scale. They appear to be black dots with small fuzzy white/yellowish tops.

I looked at the scale photos of common hard scale and could not find a direct match. I will post some photos as soon as I get a chance but I was hoping someone could suggest a way to fix the problem. Most of the sprays I found online refer to sago or soft scale.
