hows the coconut?

Not a bad first frost date! We have several frosts already. Some frost tender plants are still hanging in, but most of them are finished for the year. I just brought in my elephant ears today. I was surprised by how much of it was not melted by frost considering its late December! The Geraniums are still blooming and doing well so I'm going to take them inside since they have lasted this long! In comparison my livistonia already has some tip burn after a low of 27F.

Here in my neighborhood (in Va Bch near Sandbridge) we are still growing! We had one night at 33, where there was obviously some freezing temps around us, and then the next night there was frost in the area. Much of my neighborhood is wooded though and pretty much frost-free. The webcam for my neighborhood weather undergroud site (link attached) is on some banana trees still going. Summer annuals, bananas, cannas etc are still going here though toast nearby.

lol yeah. This is about average for a first frost. Bottomed out at somewhere in the low 30f's. Bananas took a hit but still look ok enough for slow growth if freezing temps don't happen again. Ones in micro-climates are untouched, no spotting either. Makes me wonder how other banana's faired near by.

The coconut I actually moved in because the high temp that day was much below normal thinking it could do some good. Doesn't look like it will make it anyway.

looks like it's going to bottom out above 40 . As usual I'm about 10 degrees warmer than to the west. Lots of frost around me but looks like no hard freeze .Have been running so far above normal it's a welcome relieflol gary

Our average first freeze is around December 7 so we've lasted a bit longer this year. Tonight is predicted to be 34 so we may be flirting with Jack frost once again. **EDIT** (Hey I get to use the new feature) Wunderground is now saying 30 tonight. Weather.com says 32 and Accuweather says 35. Should be interesting.

First freeze last night. Hit 31 on the 31st of December. Banana cam still looks green but I'm betting they'll look toasted as they thaw.

Thats not bad, pushing 2 zones this winter. Lucky! lol Our low so far is also 31f, so we are barely holding on to a z10a winter this year. Hoping it warms up now. lol
