Palms in December

Just thought I might post a photo of a garden with major palm plantings in a northern California setting on a December day. We're fortunate here that there is little need to worry about losing palms to freezes, although foliage can get a bit beat up in occasional years that it does dip down to perhaps 27F or so. This garden has mostly palms that are bullet-proof even in an 8b climate, and we are solidly 9b/10a here in the Berkeley hills area. I enjoyed putting these plants together for a serene tropical or perhaps Morroccan style garden. I probably used about 10 different species of palms throughout this entire garden, with the more tender ones in the front garden under protection of evergreen Coast Live Oak trees. Look through the whole set for more of this garden if'd you like.

Here is a link that might be useful: palms in the Berkeley, Ca hills
