P. edulis in Aerogarden?

So, I've been trying to grow some P. edulis plants in standard potting soil and they've sprouted and they're growing...... incredibly...... slowly. I've had them for about 3 months and they have two true leaves. That's all. I think my problem is that the soil is too hard, so I'm considering planting new ones in my Aerogarden Deluxe. Question: will they be compatible? Has anyone had experience with this? What is the best setting, i.e. Herbs, Strawberries, etc? What is the best nutrient regime? Is there any way to increase germination speed and viability? I used the papertowel in ziploc bag method and it took them about a month to germinate and I only got about 30% germination.

Also... I would be open to growing other varieties that are hardier... It kind of seems like P. edulis is harder than some to germinate and slower at the beginning. Are there other edible varieties that are a bit easier?
