It's amazing isn't it? I've got a chain link fence that my incarnatas swarm over. It's bare right now, but by May it'll be completely covered...

Wow thats a white fence you cant see it they so thick very nice .I have a time mine mix together and I cant fine seed pods or tell which is which hehe.Do yours die back in winter most mine do my blue sky and lady margret stay all year but all others die back pretty hard.

Did they spread over and up the peak of the house on the other side of the fence?

hey pagrdnr...yip it did i have a incense inside the fence which is the majority but lady margrate and red one have found their way up there as well...i cant wait for summer i have a few different ones that arent blooming but will in the summer...but to answer your question yes its grown all the way up my house under the eve...i started to train it to go that way and once it found the holes in the sofit it just took off...im trying to cover the entire house...hahah my wifes not to thrilled but it makes me happy so haha

That is so cool, I had no idea they were that vigorous. I never grew any passies but might look in to getting some this spring. Of course, they would not get like that here in zone 5 I'm sure. I did see one called maypop that is said to be hardy to zone 5 but I can't believe it would survive winters here outside. I don't mind bringing plants in the house to overwinter though. What passi would you recommend for a newbie and which ones bloom the most? Also, it is hard to tell from pics, but how large are the blooms on average and do they last long?

Yes, Pagrdnr - there is a Passiflora that is perennial in your area - incarnata. It comes in a purple and white. Yes, it will get huge like that, and spread into the next county, via underground runners, if you plant it in the ground.

It will be covered in 3" blooms from June till freeze, be covered in bees and flutterbys, and make everyone who sees it gasp in awe - it is simply stunning when in bloom! ALSO, the blooms smell like PEANUT BUTTER!

If I were ever to grow another P. incarnata, it would have to be in a POT ON CONCRETE and not allowed to touch the ground - once you have this plant, you will ALWAYS have this plant!
