Can someone put this to rest?

Hi all. I joined (again, lost old password from about 05')

on the 26th, as I have recently begun growing passiflora. I have been gleaning through your posts, and learned a lot already. I have two well established passiflora, and they both give me hundreds of flowers each summer. But no fruit, :( and I'm learning why. Anyway, i can't nail down the red ones true species or hybrid type, and would appreciate those more qualified than me try and help. Thank you much. Sorry about the huge image. P.S. I would love to learn more and do cutting exchanges with any and who would like. Please see 'my Page' I have lots of well rooted fushia bouganvillea. From what I can see of the leaves, I'd say it's vitifolia. The other two possibilities are p. miniata (formerly coccinea) or a hybrid between the two. Vitifolia produces edible fruit, but isn't self-fruitful so you'd need another, non-clonal plant for pollination.

Thank you for your reply jblaschke. I'd really like to know what i've got here. The tag only said passionflower when purchased. But so lovely i had to have it anyway :)

I agree that it's a vitifolia. The flower looks right and so does the foliage. It looks kind of like grape leaves. This plant produces a beautiful green & white striped fruit. I don't think your amethyst can pollinate it and I'm honestly not sure what varieties can. I don't hand pollinate mine but it's in close proximity to several other passies. Edulis might be a pollinator. Jayme can probably give you an answer. I really like vitifolia. It's my most prolific blooming red passie and mine need to be kept in the greenhouse over the winter. They'll become monsters in your zone.
