That's my question. I only have two varieties - Constance Elliott and some variation of maypop. It's deciduous and has purple flowers and suckers like crazy.

Should they come back? CE shows no sprouts yet. The purple one usually doesn't come up until it gets pretty warm.

The butterflies almost killed CE last year, so I may have to start over. Is there some way to control them without picking off the caterpillars? That gets to be a pain! I hate using a chemical, but the other option is not to have the plant. I have to pick off the caterpillars almost daily and it still doesn't totally solve the problem. They don't like the purple one nearly as much, so it doesn't really suffer.

The caerulea should come back when it warms up. Maybe you can cover your caerulea with some fine netting to keep the butterflies from laying eggs on it. Otherwise I'd just keep picking the cats off the caerulea and placing them on your incarnata. I wouldn't kill them.

Are you willing to trade for any other plant? I don't have any passiflora plants but would love to get a start. PLMK gwat1@swbell.net

Last summer I planted my first passy, a caerulea. It was left in the ground with no winter protection to speak of. The other day I looked and saw some new vegetative growth down towards the bottom.

Of course snow is forcasted for Sunday.
