Pollen how long is it viable

I am wandering after I collect pollen from tne anther of the flower how long it is viable? In other words how long do I have to use it before I have to dump it?

I think it's viable longer if stored properly. See the link at bottom. I gather from that link nobody knows how long; longer than days, shorter than years, maybe...

I had success using fridge stored pollen the next day. I tried 4 days old pollen stored at room temp and no success.
