Newbie Questions

I've looked through the forum a little bit, but the circumstances are, well, a little unusual. While walking about DC over the weekend, we came upon a little garden with lots of different varieties of passiflora, some of them in bloom. Now, my dad wants some for his garden. No problem, except his garden is in India. I figured I'd get him some seeds, but after reading through a bunch of information, it looks like this one might be a lot of work, and may not work for his climatic conditions. Here go the questions:

Are there any particular varieties that are easier than others to grow?

Has anyone grown them in tropical conditions? I am worried that the germination calls for 70 degree temps, and unless they turn the A/C on for the seeds, it will be much warmer than that during most of the year.

How do the plants do in tropical conditions?

They won't be going home until August. Does this mean that I should wait until July to order the seeds?
