Passiflora Problems of a New Gardner

jcmohn

I purchased my first Passifloras a few weeks ago -- caeurlea, incarnata, incense, and what I believe is Lavender Lady (it was mislabeled at the nursery). I have them on my deck in pots, and they seemed to be doing well until we started getting some hot weather  95+ degrees. Now, the growth seems to have stopped, the flowers are no longer opening, and the plants just look sad, almost wilted. My deck has little protection in the afternoon, so the plants are getting full sun from about 11am on, and IÂve been watering them every day.

IÂm new to gardening, and so am completely flummoxed as to what I should do. My wife says to let them ride it out, and theyÂll toughen up, but IÂm inclined to put them in the shade during the heat of the day. Can any of you experienced folks give some advice?

Thanks!

-Jon
