Passiflora alata smell

Hello,

I'm new to passiflora and I just bought two, a smallish blue bouquet and a monstrous Alata that was about 20' long and has now grown another 2 or 3 feet. Since we brought the Alata home, there has been a very interesting smell in the house. Anyone that has hiked through a valley here would recognize it. It's almost skunk like but definitely not so offensive and also noticeably plant based. I was wondering if this is normal. It seems to keep the bugs off though, as the b.b. has mites and although it is growing intertwined on one side there has been no migration. Also, any idea on how to get it to bloom. It seems that something this large should be blooming age. Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ~Aubrei
