question about passiflora

Hi,

I am new to growing Passifloras. I started these seeds about 2 months ago and 7 seeds germinated. I do not know the name, as someone gave me the seeds. The roots are just now starting to come out the bottom and I am getting ready to repot. How many do I put in each pot? And will they possibly bloom before frost? I live in Louisville, Ky. and our first frost date is mid-late October.

Thanks, Betty

    Hi Betty
I would separate them into one per pot as soon as possible. Passiflora roots are very fragile and I have learnt over the years that it is best to put one per pot shortly after they come up. Give them a nice 4 foot tripod of bamboo sticks in each pot to climb up. Some Passiflora will flower in their first year so you may be lucky but most usually they will flower in their second year.

    Thanks Myles,

That was helpful. I will pot them up tomorrow.
