It's a fruit. The seeds form inside the fruit. If you want to save the seed, wait until the fruit is completely ripe and soft. Check out the link below for more info.

That picture is of a seed bearing fruit. It should hold a combination of membranous tissue, pulp, and inside the pulp sacks... seeds. Depending on which Passiflora it is, and what it was pollinated with, it may or may not have pulp and seeds. In some cases the pulp is edible. Are you familiar with passion fruit flavoring? If you've been to Hawaii, you've probably had a mixed drink with it.

It looks from your picture like it is a caerulea-esque Passiflora, so there will likely be very little if any pulp, and what is there is generally not very tasty. However, the seeds may or may not be viable. Tough to tell without knowing how it got pollinated, or if it even did. It may be one of the self-fertile ones.

Anyway, hope that helped to answer some questions and raise some new ones.

Thanks for the info. It is ripening now to yellow and I will most definately sample the flavor. It feels really light though so I am not expecting more than a little pulp.

Any ideas why I only have one fruit on this guy? Tons of blooms though. Thanks

For some reason all my caerulea fruits have just been little balloons with nothing inside. This has been the case for the past few years with a few caerulea plants that I acquired from different sources. Anybody know why I never get any seeds from the caerulea's fruit?

It is obviously a fruit. Like all fruits it has seeds in it.
The seeds will develop and harden when the fruit ripens up.
What I see in the picture, the fruit looks exactly like P.Incarnata fruit but the leaves look different.

Cyrus gardner you'd be surprised at the number of empty fruit produced by many of my passiflora vines. They grow and ripen like a normal fruit but are just full of air or sometimes very undeveloped seeds.
