Congrats on your find...What kind did you get? I would keep them shaded for a few days no matter where you put them... You should plant them in similar conditions from where they were growing...and don't over water...

If you found them growing wild in/around Houston, then they're most likely incarnata (although there are a few other possibilities). Plant them up, water well after planting, and keep partially shaded for a few days until it recovers from transplant shock. Don't over-water. Being in Houston, once they're established you'll likely never have to water it again. And don't worry about fertilizer--incarnata thrives on neglect, and I've seen it growing equally well on heavy, black clay as in nutrient poor sand.
