Is this a passion fruit?

We have what appears to be passion fruit vines growing rampantly and wild in our back yard and in several other peoples yards around our neighbourhood. They all look the same. Three lobed leaves with purple / white passion type flowers in the early morning that get covered in large bumble bees until they close late morning. They close into green hairy balls concealing a round red fruit within. Within a day or so the hairy green exteriors fall away to reveal the small red balls. These small fruit have no juice and are full of white seeds. They are completely tasteless. The birds seem to go for them though and that probably accounts for why they have multiplied around our neighbourhood. The vines are prolific and we have some growing vertically through a cypress that have to be 20 feet long. The vines can be seen flowing over fences and walls and trailing into the back lanes. The red fruit are around an inch in diameter and the flowers nearly 2 inches wide. I would be grateful if anyone has got any helpful ideas?
